Sustainable agri-food systems
Local agri-food production, and distribution systems have become marred with sustainability challenges and fallen short of achieving food security in the face of adverse ad unfavorable climatic changes. New solutions must enhance food security, strengthen food system resilience to climatic shocks, guarantee that the agri-food value chains are sustainable environmentally, socially, and economically, especially among smallholder farmers who are central in driving African food systems.
The landscape approach unlocks significant potential to sustainably enhance agri-food systems. By optimizing land use, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering stakeholder engagement, we can improve agri-food system productivity, enhance food security, and ensure the long-term viability of smallholder communities.
